Jeera Rice

Hi
Planning the Lunch Box was a little easy today as my Daughter had the menu planned:-)
Well she wanted Shahi paneer and some rice dish. I thought that Jeera rice would be perfect for that. Accompanied with some salad and Cake to take care of her sweet cravings ,this was a wholesome lunch......

INGREDIENTS
Basmati rice 1 cup

Ghee 1 tbsp

Jeera 2-3 tsp

Green chillies 1

Cardamom 2

Clove 2

Bay leaf 1

Onion 1

Salt to taste

PREPARATION

Wash the rice and soak it in water for 10 minutes. Drain and keep it aside

Slice the onion thinly

Make a slit lengthwise in the green chilli

Heat ghee a thick bottomed pan.Add cumin seeds, cardamom, clove and bay leaf and when it starts sizzling, add the sliced onions and fry well.

Now add the washed rice and pour 2 cups of water to this. Add salt. Mix well. Cook covered till done in a very low flame. Takes around 25-30 minutes.

Serve topped with fried onions and subji of your choice

My menu linked to Blogging marathon by Srivalli was

Shahi Paneer
Chick pea salad
Choco vanilla cake
